Junk-Food January

Our week has been spent adjusting back from winter break, me starting school, and all of us working on our January Goals. One of our goals for January was to cut back on our intake of sugar and junk food. We did this last year, and even though it was a challenge, we found some interesting benefits. We all slept better, we were less moody, the girls argued less with each other, and our energy levels were up (to name a few.) My wish/hope is that we could maintain this all year. With all the treats from school, and birthdays, and holidays, it's sometimes feels almost impossible. However, I think we've come up with some ideas to at least cut back this year. I know each of the girls have had great experiences with this. Mary mentioned that she had more energy to play at recess. Stephanie has found a greater stamina, and Cami's negative emotional responses are down 20%. LOL! :-) Mark has been reading the book The Sugar Solution and the harmful effects on the body. I've stopped telling myself that sugar reduction in our family is an impracticable, impossible goal. I know what we've felt and know we can continue to work towards better health for our family. We can do this!!!

Tell us some of your suggestions! I am constantly trying to cut back on sugar but usually end up making up for the days I went without real quick:)

You know, it will always be a challenge for us. This month we're going to the extremes only for a month, but we aren't going to totally get rid of sugar in our lives. We've just decided to not buy the junk food that we used to. But also allow for a treat once in a while. With school, church, birthday, etc. we're all getting enough and then some, so really the only big control we have is at home. So we've decided to consciously cut back. For us, it will always take effort, but the benefits are worth it. Sugar free pudding is also a must! :-)
(Cute picture, BTW!!!)
